Roland Stoer graduated from Berlin Institute of Technology in 1986 where
he got a diploma in aeronautical engineering. After working in the performance and operations
department of Lufthansa German Airlines, he returned to the University for a
PhD program in 1989. He worked mainly on the development of tools for computer
aided airplane design.
His PhD thesis which was finished in 1993 dealt with
optimization strategies of civil aircraft taking into account the impact of
their engine emissions to the atmosphere. From 1993 to 1997 he worked for the
Senate of Berlin and the European Union in evaluating environmentally related
research projects supported with public funding. In 1997 he joined EUROS
Entwicklungsgesellschaft für Windkraftanlagen, an internationally well-known
rotor blade design and manufacturing company, where he worked until 2007 as
the Technical Director. End of 2007 he founded WINDnovation Engineering
Solutions GmbH in Berlin and is one of the Managing Directors.
